Ukraine offers gas storage to Azerbaijan amid deepening energy ties

Ukraine offers gas storage to Azerbaijan amid deepening energy ties
14.07.2025 12:30

Ukraine has offered Azerbaijan access to its underground gas storage facilities as part of efforts to deepen bilateral energy cooperation, Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko said following a visit to Baku.

The two sides signed a roadmap outlining joint steps, including possible deliveries of Azerbaijani gas to Ukraine and its storage for future sales to European markets. Alternative supply routes, such as the Balkan corridor via Romania, were also discussed.

Ukraine is seeking to increase gas imports following the halt of Russian transit through its territory and a decline in domestic production. President Zelenskiy said the country needs to import around €1 billion worth of gas to prepare for the winter.
