Azerbaijani security service arrests hacker for personal data theft and cyberattacks

Azerbaijan’s State Security Service (DTX) has arrested citizen Nihad Hajiyev on charges related to cybercrime, including illegal access to personal data, phishing scams, and cyberattacks on news websites.

Authorities say Hajiyev ran a darknet platform selling restricted data, launched malware-laced apps, and created fake websites impersonating companies like Irshad Electronics, Xalq Bank, and others. He also used "Call Spoofing" tools to impersonate phone numbers and send fraudulent messages.

A court in Baku’s Sabail district ordered Hajiyev to be held in pretrial detention for three months.
