Chelsea have announced that they have reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid to sign Diego Costa, after meeting the buy-out clause for the Brazil-born Spain international worth a reported £32m.

The 25-year-old passed a medical at Stamford Bridge before the start of the World Cup, and becomes the second Spain international after Cesc Fabregas to join Jose Mourinho's side this summer.A Chelsea statement read: “Chelsea Football Club can confirm an agreement has been reached with Atletico Madrid for the transfer of Diego Costa, with Chelsea meeting the buy-out clause for the Spanish international.”Despite being part of Spain's woeful defence of their World Cup, in which he failed to score a single goal, Costa enjoyed a prolific campaign at Atletico last term, scoring 36 goals in total.Costa spoke last month about why he was joining Chelsea, labelling them as one of the "world's greatest clubs" as he was preparing for the World Cup in Brazil."I've wanted to play in the Premier League for a while," he said. "Chelsea are one of the greatest clubs of the world so there are many factors that make you take a decision like this."(independent.co.uk)Bakudaily.az
