Azerbaijan extradites Tajik national wanted for extremism

Azerbaijan has extradited Saddam Mirzoev, a 24-year-old citizen of Tajikistan, who was wanted on charges of participating in a banned extremist organization, the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General’s Office said on Monday.

Mirzoev was detained in March 2025 in Azerbaijan and placed under arrest by court order. His extradition was carried out under the October 7, 2002 Convention on Legal Assistance in Civil, Family, and Criminal Matters.

He was transferred to Tajik authorities under escort by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Justice’s Penitentiary Service.
