Georgia deports dozens of foreigners, including Azerbaijanis

Georgia’s Interior Ministry announced the deportation of 36 foreign nationals in recent days, including citizens of Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkey, Iran, and China. All have been banned from re-entering the country.
According to the ministry, a total of 115 foreigners were deported in July alone. Since the beginning of 2025, the number has reached 640 — a 233% increase compared to the same period last year.
The ministry said all those deported were residing in Georgia without legal grounds. The Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is responsible for such actions.
Background: Georgia has intensified enforcement of migration laws amid domestic political tensions and protests. Human rights activists have raised concerns about selective enforcement and potential discrimination against certain nationalities.
