Five kilograms of marijuana seized in drug raid in Baku’s Sabunchu district

Police in Baku’s Sabunchu district have seized 5 kilograms of marijuana during an anti-drug operation, authorities said on Tuesday.

The suspect, Ilkin Aslan, who had previously been convicted for drug-related offenses, was detained for allegedly acting as a drug courier. He told investigators he had received the drugs through an Iranian national he met on social media and was promised payment for delivering the packages to various addresses.

A criminal case has been launched and an investigation is ongoing.

According to local police, more than 70 kilograms of illegal drugs have been removed from circulation in the Sabunchu district since the beginning of the year.
