Journalist gets two years in prison for slapping a police officer

A court in Batumi has sentenced journalist Mzia Amaghlobeli, founder of “Batumelebi” and “Netgazeti,” to two years in prison for slapping a police officer during protests in January.

The charge was reclassified from “assaulting an officer” to “resisting law enforcement.” Her sentence is counted from January 12, the day of her arrest.
