U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin are expected to meet on Aug. 15 in Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city, The New York Times reported.

Larry Disbrow, a local realtor and honorary German consul, said he had provided a home to house U.S. Secret Service staff ahead of the summit. Anchorage Mayor Suzanne LaFrance said she had not received official confirmation of the meeting but added: “Hosting leaders here in Alaska is part of our history – we are at a crossroads of the world.”

The New York Times noted that since taking office in 2017, Trump has visited Alaska at least five times, mostly stopping at the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage. The summit will be his first official trip to the state since the start of his second term.

Trump announced the Aug. 15 meeting with Putin in an Aug. 8 Truth Social post. Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov confirmed the date and location, saying it would be the first face-to-face meeting between the two leaders since Trump returned to the White House in January 2025.
