Azerbaijan’s grain imports from Kazakhstan surge 121 times

Kazakhstan has sharply increased grain exports to Azerbaijan, Iran and several other countries, Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Serik Zhumangarin said on Wednesday.

From September 2024 to Aug. 10, 2025, exports to Azerbaijan jumped 121 times to 728,000 tonnes, while shipments to Iran rose 16-fold to 974,000 tonnes, he told a briefing.

Over the same period, exports grew by 34% to 3.7 million tonnes to Uzbekistan, by 47% to 1.395 million tonnes to Tajikistan, by 52% to 329,000 tonnes to Afghanistan, and more than doubled to 262,000 tonnes to Kyrgyzstan.

According to Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, total exports of grain and flour in grain equivalent reached 12.6 million tonnes, up 33% from a year earlier.
