U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said sanctions continue to severely impact Russia, citing an incident during a summit in Alaska where Russian delegates had to pay cash for aircraft fuel. Speaking to NBC News, Rubio noted that Russia cannot access the U.S. banking system.

“They face the consequences [of sanctions] every day,” he said, adding that all sanctions in place when Donald Trump took office remain unchanged.
