Think tanks meet in Baku for 13th CICA forum

The 13th meeting of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Think Tanks Forum opened in Baku on Monday, bringing together policymakers and experts to discuss regional security and cooperation.

The event, held under the theme “Resonance of development and security: regional cooperation and governance in CICA’s institutional transformation”, is co-organized by Azerbaijan’s Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center) and the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies.

Speakers at the plenary session include Farid Shafiyev, Chairman of the AIR Center, CICA Secretary General Kairat Sarybay, Chinese Foreign Ministry representative Ambassador Yan Wenbin, and SIIS President Chen Dongxiao.

The two-day forum features discussions on security governance in Asia, supply chain cooperation amid green and digital transformation, and connectivity initiatives including the Belt and Road, the Middle Corridor, and the International North-South Transport Corridor. On the second day, panels will focus on strengthening CICA as an international organization and shaping a “new Asian order.”
