Traffic police urge caution as new school year begins

The Main State Traffic Police Department has congratulated students, teachers and parents on the start of the new academic year and called for strict observance of road safety rules.
Authorities noted that traffic in Baku becomes more intense at the beginning of the school year, especially around schools, kindergartens and universities. Drivers are urged to avoid using personal cars unless necessary, give priority to public transport, obey parking rules and slow down near educational institutions.
Parents are advised not to drive in convoys, to use one vehicle for several children where possible, and to park only in permitted places. They should ensure that children exit cars from the door closest to the sidewalk.
Pedestrians, including students, are reminded to cross only at marked pedestrian crossings, not to step onto the road suddenly, and to avoid distractions while moving.
The traffic police stressed that road safety depends on the responsible behavior of every road user.
