Value of imported food products to Azerbaijan reaches $1.7 billion

In January–August of this year, the value of food products imported into Azerbaijan amounted to 1 billion 666 million 262 thousand US dollars, citing its calculations based on the report by the State Customs Committee.

The value of food product imports in the first 8 months of the current year is 8.6% higher compared to the same period of the previous year.

During the January–August period, food products accounted for 11.07% of the country’s total imports.

During the reporting period, 28,184 tons of meat worth 63 million 240 thousand US dollars were imported into the country, which is respectively 19.9% less in value and 20.7% less in volume compared to the same period last year.

In January–August of the current year, 10,602 tons of milk worth 18 million 379 thousand US dollars (an increase of 21.2%) were imported (15% more in volume).

Additionally, 18,127 tons of butter and other milk fats worth 124 million 127 thousand US dollars (20.1% more in value) were imported into the country, although the volume decreased by 5.4%.
