Azerbaijan and Maldives agree to scrap visas for ordinary passport holders

Azerbaijan and the Maldives have signed an agreement to abolish visas for citizens holding ordinary passports, the Azerbaijani foreign ministry said.
The deal was signed during talks between Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and his Maldivian counterpart Abdulla Shahid on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
The ministers discussed expanding bilateral cooperation, holding political consultations and strengthening ties in areas including tourism. They noted that the launch of direct flights last year had boosted travel and people-to-people contacts.
