Socar increases oil, gas output in first five months

Azerbaijan’s state energy company SOCAR produced more crude oil and natural-gas in the first five months of 2014 year-on-year.

The company pumped 3.51 million tons of oil in January-May, up from 3.46 million tons a year earlier, a source in Socar said.

Natural-gas output increased to 3.26 billion cubic meters from 3.03 billion cubic meters.

SOCAR, which is fully owned by the state, produced 8.3 million tons of oil and 7.14 billion cubic meters of gas last year. That compares with 8.29 million tons of oil and 6.92 billion cubic meters of gas pumped the year before.
