Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan plan to boost oil shipments via the Aktau–Baku–Ceyhan route to 1.7 million tonnes in 2025, Kazakhstan’s energy ministry said.

The agreement was announced following a meeting between Energy Ministers Yerlan Akkenzhenov of Kazakhstan and Parviz Shahbazov of Azerbaijan on the sidelines of “Kazenergy Week-2025” in Astana.

According to the ministry, 1.06 million tonnes of oil were shipped through the route in 2023, with volumes set to rise to 1.7 million tonnes in 2025.

Akkenzhenov said the route had strategic importance for Kazakhstan, while the Baku–Supsa line remained a reserve option. The ministers also discussed bilateral projects, including the Caspian Green Energy Corridor.
