Istanbul's water reserves may last only 75 days

Water levels in Istanbul’s reservoirs have dropped below 28%, leaving enough supply for about 75 days without rain, the city water authority İSKİ said.
Of the ten reservoirs, only one is more than 25% full, while four are below 2%.
Since April, reserves in the city of over 16 million people have fallen from 80% to the current level. Daily consumption is about 3.18 million cubic meters, and authorities have urged residents to save water.
Rainfall is forecast next week.
In 2023, the city recorded its worst level in a decade, with reservoirs at just 16%. At that time, water supplies for garden and private park irrigation were suspended due to drought.
