Azerbaijani president’s envoy meets Iran’s foreign minister in Tehran

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s special envoy Khalaf Khalafov met Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Tehran, Iran’s IRNA news agency reported.
The talks were also attended by Iranian presidential adviser Mehdi Sanai and deputy foreign minister Kazem Gharibabadi.
The sides discussed the current state of bilateral ties, including Iranian presidential visits to Azerbaijan, and prospects for strengthening friendly and good-neighbourly relations under a new stage of cooperation shaped by agreements reached between Aliyev and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
They also underlined the importance of dialogue to enhance regional security and stability, and exchanged views on joint energy, transport, infrastructure and logistics projects, Caspian Sea cooperation, and other regional issues.
The meeting also covered Azerbaijan’s current chairmanship of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
