Estonia to open embassy in Azerbaijan — foreign minister Tsahkna

Estonia will open an embassy in Azerbaijan in the near future, Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said at a joint press conference with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.
“The Estonian government should expand its representation in Azerbaijan. We will open a full-fledged embassy here soon,” Tsahkna said, adding that the move would help deepen political and business cooperation between the two countries.
Tsahkna said Estonia values the ongoing normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia and considers the recent Washington agreements important for regional stability. “We also discussed connectivity and transport. Azerbaijan plays a key role in the region in this regard,” he noted.
He added that bilateral ties are growing stronger: “Azerbaijan is an important country for Estonia and the region. I came to Baku with a large business delegation. Today, hundreds of Azerbaijanis study in Estonia, and education connects cultures.”
The minister also said cooperation could expand in digitalization and green technologies. “Estonia is advanced in these areas, and I am convinced our bilateral relations can be significantly enhanced. Latvia and Finland could also benefit from this partnership,” Tsahkna said.
He thanked Azerbaijan for providing humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.
