Azerbaijan agrees to send troops to post-war Gaza force
Azerbaijan has privately agreed to contribute troops to an international stabilization force in Gaza after the war, three officials familiar with the matter told The Times of Israel.
While Indonesia is the only country to have publicly committed to sending troops — pledging 20,000 soldiers to a UN-mandated mission — the United States has secured a similar pledge from Azerbaijan, the officials said. Baku has not confirmed the report, and Azerbaijani embassies in Washington and Tel Aviv declined to comment.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also offered to deploy troops during a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly last month, according to two sources. However, it remains unclear if Israel would approve the presence of Turkish forces given current tensions between Ankara and Tel Aviv.
