Azerbaijan will allocate 8.7 billion manats for defense and national security in 2026, accounting for 20.9% of total government expenditures, Deputy Finance Minister Himalay Mamisov said during parliamentary discussions of the draft state budget.

According to him, the funds will be used to strengthen the country’s defense capabilities, improve social protection for military personnel, and develop military infrastructure.

Mamisov emphasized that the increase reflects the priorities set by President Ilham Aliyev, including ensuring national security, modernizing the Armed Forces, and advancing the defense industry.
