Logjam with Azerbaijani trucks at Georgian border begins to ease
The issue involving Azerbaijani cargo trucks that had been stuck for more than 20 days at customs terminals in Batumi and Tbilisi has begun to be resolved, a truck driver, Aslan Kerimov, told Report.
According to him, operations are moving forward:
“Trucks carrying goods are being prepared for release. The situation at the Batumi and Tbilisi terminals is stabilising.”
He added that the release applies not only to tobacco shipments but to all trucks that had been waiting:
“The process has started. All vehicles are being prepared for clearance. The seals have been removed, and trucks are expected to begin moving tomorrow morning.”
Earlier at 19:30, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Georgia told Report that the issue would be resolved soon. Embassy officials met with Georgian government agencies, who assured that the problem would be settled “as quickly as possible.”
