U.S. LRHW hypersonic missile could theoretically reach Moscow from London — TWZ
The U.S. Long-Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW), known as Dark Eagle, could theoretically strike Moscow if launched from London, The War Zone (TWZ) reported, citing U.S. Army Lieutenant General Francisco Lozano.
Lozano said the missile’s maximum range could reach around 3,500 kilometres. Previously, U.S. military officials had estimated the system’s range at about 2,700 kilometres.
He also said that one Dark Eagle system has already been deployed on the island of Guam, from where it could reach targets in China.
According to the general, the missile could also theoretically strike Moscow if launched from London and Tehran if launched from Qatar.
Development of the LRHW system began in 2019, with the first prototype delivered to the U.S. armed forces in 2021. The system consists of a mobile launcher, a booster missile and the Common Hypersonic Glide Body.
