China imposes tariffs on EU dairy products
China has imposed tariffs on certain dairy products imported from the European Union, Bloomberg reported.
The move followed an investigation that found the sector was subsidised by the EU. As a result, Beijing imposed duties on some fresh and processed cheeses as well as cream. French dairy producer Fromarsac was hit with tariffs of 30%, while some units of Dutch company FrieslandCampina faced duties of up to 43%.
The measures add to trade tensions between China and the EU after the bloc imposed tariffs of up to 45% on Chinese electric vehicles in October last year.
China also imposed anti-dumping duties on EU pork imports last week, ranging from 5% to 20%.
