U.S. allows India’s Reliance to keep buying oil from Rosneft – sources
India’s Reliance Industries has received a special waiver from the United States allowing it to continue purchasing oil from Russia’s Rosneft, despite U.S. sanctions, Reuters reported, citing sources.
The waiver is valid for one month, according to the report.
Citing data from analytics firm Kpler, Reuters said Reliance has already received around 15 cargoes of Russian oil since November 22, when U.S. sanctions against Lukoil and Rosneft came into force.
Reliance said the shipments are linked to previously signed contracts and are being carried out in full compliance with all sanctions requirements.
The company added that the last cargo under its contract with Rosneft destined for India was loaded on November 12. Oil received after November 20 will be processed at Reliance refineries with a combined capacity of 660,000 barrels per day.
