Americans split on impact of Venezuela intervention, poll shows deep partisan rift
The American public is evenly divided over whether the recent U.S. military intervention in Venezuela will improve or worsen the situation in the Latin American country, a YouGov survey showed on Monday.
According to the poll conducted on Jan. 4 among 991 adults, 35% of respondents expect a negative impact on Venezuela, while 34% believe the U.S. operation will lead to an improvement. Another 9% said the intervention would have no noticeable effect, and 22% remained unsure.
The findings highlight a sharp partisan divide: 66% of Republicans anticipate positive results from Washington’s actions, whereas 54% of Democrats are convinced that the intervention will only exacerbate the crisis. The survey has a margin of error of 3.6 percentage points.
