Trump warns three countries
U.S. President Donald Trump said Washington could intervene in the affairs of several countries, speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One.
Trump sharply criticised Colombian President Gustavo Petro, accusing Colombia’s authorities of responsibility for producing and supplying cocaine to the United States.
“Colombia is very sick too. It is run by a sick person who likes producing cocaine and selling it to the United States, but he won’t be doing that for much longer,” Trump said.
Asked about the possibility of a military operation against Colombia, Trump replied: “That sounds good to me.”
Turning to Mexico, Trump again linked the situation in the country to drug trafficking and signalled that the United States could increase pressure on Mexican authorities if there is no progress in tackling narcotics flows. He did not specify any concrete measures or timelines.
Trump also commented on developments in Iran, where anti-government protests are continuing. He said the United States is closely monitoring the situation and is prepared to respond forcefully if demonstrations are violently suppressed.
“If they start killing people like they did in the past, they will receive a very hard strike from the United States,” Trump said.
