Pahlavi to Trump: now is the time to act
Reza Pahlavi, the eldest son of Iran’s last shah, has called on U.S. President Donald Trump to take action amid widespread protests in the Islamic Republic.
Pahlavi published the appeal on social media platform X in response to a post by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham.
“Senator Graham is right. President Trump is not Obama. His words of support for protesters in Iran make that clear. Now is the time to act. The president is a man of action and a man of peace. He now has the opportunity to take a step toward the greatest peace — helping Iranians finally end this criminal regime,” Pahlavi wrote.
He said the Iranian regime is weak and “hanging on by its last threads,” while the people are ready to overthrow it. According to Pahlavi, Iranians do not need foreign troops on the ground, but decisive action from the leader of the free world.
“Negotiations with this criminal regime, which continues to threaten America and the president himself, will not bring peace. Immediate action in support of these brave protesters will save thousands of lives and bring lasting peace to the region. That will be President Trump’s legacy,” he said.
