Pashinyan awaits Russia's response on regional communications
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated on Thursday that Yerevan intends to deepen cooperation with Russian partners regarding the unblocking of regional transport links. Speaking at a briefing after a government meeting on January 29, Pashinyan noted that Armenia has sent written inquiries to Moscow and, while an official response is still pending, positive signals have been observed.
The Prime Minister recalled the joint inspection of the Yeraskh-Sadarak railway section by Armenian and Azerbaijani representatives in early 2026, describing it as evidence that regional integration processes are irreversible. Pashinyan also clarified that if Russia declines to invest in the railway section on the border with Türkiye, Armenia is prepared to fund and implement the project independently.
