U.S. Jewish leaders to visit Azerbaijan
A delegation from the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, one of the most influential Jewish advocacy bodies in the United States, is scheduled to visit Azerbaijan starting February 9, the organization said.
The delegation will be led by Malcolm Hoenlein, Executive Vice Chairman Emeritus of the Conference and a veteran figure in U.S. Jewish leadership with extensive diplomatic experience.
According to the statement, the visit aims to express appreciation to Azerbaijan’s leadership for its consistent support of the Jewish community and for maintaining peaceful coexistence and state protection in a Muslim-majority country.
The delegation also plans to highlight the strong relationship between Azerbaijan and Israel, citing expanding strategic, economic and cultural ties between Baku and Jerusalem in recent years.
The Conference represents more than 50 major American Jewish organizations and serves as a coordinating forum on issues affecting Jewish communities worldwide, U.S.-Israel relations and engagement with global political leaders.
The visit underscores Azerbaijan’s standing as a model of interfaith tolerance and a reliable partner to Israel and the global Jewish community.
