Son of former Salyan official expands real estate empire in Romania
Umid Abuzarli, the son of former Salyan District executive head Tahir Kerimov, has acquired significant residential assets in Romania.
According to the Romanian portal "Profit.ro," Abuzarli’s company, "Memaar Capital," purchased a complex of 40 villas in Pipera and another project in Balotesti featuring dozens of duplex apartments. Operating under the "Harmony Homes" and "Harmony Gardens" brands, the company currently manages over 86 residential units.
Tahir Kerimov gained notoriety in 2015 due to a viral photo showing him walking under a floral arch held by schoolchildren, drawing comparisons to a Roman emperor.
His son, Umid, later changed his surname to Abuzarli. Another son, Hamza Kerimov, headed SOCAR’s Romanian subsidiary from 2007 to 2024. Although "Memaar Capital" was sold to Dubai-based "Rock Global DMCC" in 2024, Abuzarli remains the official representative, retaining de facto control.
The family’s business network in Romania also extends to shopping malls, office buildings, and environmental technology ventures.
