Azerbaijan refunds AZN 19.68 mln VAT to consumers in January

In January 2026, Azerbaijan returned 19.68 million manat in value-added tax (VAT) to individual consumers for goods and services purchased from retail and catering businesses, excluding oil and gas products, vehicles, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco, the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy said.

The refund also covered services such as theater performances, film screenings, museum visits, symphony orchestra concerts, medical services provided by healthcare institutions and private practitioners, and overnight stays at hotels, including those in territories recently liberated.

Additionally, VAT refunds under the “tax free” scheme for foreign citizens’ personal consumption in the country amounted to 718,200 manat in January.
