Aliyev meets AIPAC leadership in Washington
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is on a working visit to Washington at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump to attend the first meeting of the Peace Council.
On Feb. 18, he met with Elliott Brandt, executive director of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), and the organization’s leadership.
During the meeting, the sides highlighted Azerbaijan’s tradition of religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence. Brandt praised the country’s model of multicultural harmony and expressed appreciation for state support for the Jewish community.
The discussion also covered Azerbaijan–U.S. relations, noting strengthened ties following Trump’s return to office, as well as the recent visit of U.S. Vice President JD Vance and the signing of the Charter on Strategic Partnership.
The parties exchanged views on prospects for cooperation and issues of mutual interest.
