Over 4,000 settle in Azerbaijan’s liberated Khojaly region, reconstruction continues
More than 4,000 people have resettled in the Khojaly District, part of ongoing reconstruction and repopulation efforts in territories liberated from occupation, MP Vuqar Bayramov said during a speech at the National Assembly on Feb. 24.
Bayramov said the city of Khojaly and seven surrounding villages are being rebuilt, while over 75,000 citizens currently live and work across Karabakh and East Zangazur. An additional 80,000 people are expected to settle in the region by the end of the year, bringing the total population in the liberated territories to over 150,000.
Since the victory, nearly 23 billion manats have been allocated for regional reconstruction, with total funding expected to exceed 26 billion manats by 2026. The funds are used for infrastructure rehabilitation, housing construction, and organization of social and communal services.
Initial estimates indicate that Karabakh and East Zangazur could contribute about 10% to Azerbaijan’s economy, potentially adding more than 15 billion manats in value in the coming years.
