Hezbollah strikes Israeli base in retaliation for alleged assassination attempt on Iran's Khamenei

Hezbollah said its attack on an Israeli military base was in retaliation for an alleged assassination attempt on Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The group, which has maintained a unilateral ceasefire for over 15 months, resumed hostilities after Israel carried out airstrikes on Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, according to official statements.

Iran is reported to be Hezbollah’s main sponsor and arms supplier. The escalation follows Hezbollah firing rockets and drones in response to the attempted attack on Khamenei.
