Azerbaijan to Rehabilitate 12 Absheron Lakes

The Azerbaijani government is preparing to implement a comprehensive environmental project aimed at rehabilitating and cleansing 12 lakes across the Absheron Peninsula, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov announced during a joint press conference with Dutch Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen in Baku. Pointing to the Netherlands' global expertise in water management, Bayramov encouraged Dutch specialized enterprises to submit proposals within upcoming competitive tenders.

The minister noted that an ongoing state water management program spans all regions of Azerbaijan, including the liberated territories, where two Dutch firms are currently executing service contracts with prospects for broader involvement. Addressing regional dynamics, Bayramov reiterated that Azerbaijan’s approach to a peace treaty remains firmly anchored in international legal principles, underscoring that over the past year Baku has unilaterally initiated multiple constructive measures to facilitate genuine progress in normalization talks with Armenia.
