Azeri national security minister promoted to Col-Gen

President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree, promoting Eldar Mahmudov, minister of national security, to Col-Gen, state news agency Azartac reported.

Mahmudov has been in the post since 2004.

Hilal Asadov, deputy minister of national security, was promoted to Lt-Gen, as was Ali Shafiyev.

Col Tarverdi Mamedov was promoted to Major-General.

March 28 marks the 95th anniversary of the country’s first intelligence agency.
