Yasamal residents protest felling of trees - VIDEO

On Tuesday in the Yasamal district there was an incident between tenants of the house at 14 Mirali Seyidov Street (located between the former cinema Sevil and Kiev Avenue) and unknown persons determined to build an office in their backyard.

Unknown persons attempted to fence the green patch in the yard. However, the residents prevented them to build an office right next to their house.

Unknown people felled 50 -year-old trees at night.

The Head of the Housing Operational Site No 22, Sabig Mammadov told Turan that, without consulting, residents in the yard privatized a 0.4 ha plot.

Interestingly, this land is in public ownership and under the laws the executive branch cannot change the designation of public lands.

During the incident the executive officials of Yasamal arrived and then building materials were removed from the site.

The executive officials promised that nothing will be built there.

It is unknown what organization owned the office construction.
