US Secretary of State John Kerry to visit Azerbaijan

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry plans to visit Azerbaijan, but the date of the visit has not yet been confirmed, U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar said yesterday in Baku.

"I met with U.S. Secretary of State last week in Washington at a conference of ambassadors, and he expressed his intention to visit Azerbaijan. But the exact date of the visit has not been announced yet," the U.S. diplomat said.

The escalating tensions between Russia and Western powers on Crimea crisis sparks speculations that Kerry's coming visit to the South Caucasus countries may aim to seek diplomatic corporations with the neighbors of Russia.
