Filmed in 1977 by order of the Central TV (Moscow), the film Birthday was made on the subjects of the stories Birthday and Trip by Rustam Ibrahimbekov. The screenplay was wrote by Rustam Ibrahimbekov himself and the director was Rasim Odjagov.

One of the main characters in the film Birthday filmed at the studio Azerbaijanfilm is Ali. Ali's filmed image is so interesting and is made with such a skill that the spectators do not assume that the person reviving the role in the movie is a foreigner.

A famous Georgian actor David Uplisashvili starred in one of the main roles of the film Birthday in the image of Ali.

David Uplisashvili was born in 1946. Since 1968 he has worked as an actor in the Shota Rustaveli Theater in Tbilisi.

The actor starred in about 10 films and in each of them he created an interesting role.

For the image of Ali in the film Birthday he was awarded the title of laureate of the State Prize of Azerbaijan.

David Uplisashvili is also a well-deserved actor in Georgia.

In one of his interviews, talking about his role in Birthday , David Uplisashvili called Rasim Odjagov great director. He noted that thanks to this film he made ​​many friends among the Azerbaijanis.

David Uplisashvili said he received the diploma of a laureate of the Azerbaijan State Award for the role of Ali personally from the late former President Heydar Aliyev.

"Handing me the diploma, Heydar Aliyev said:" I knew you were a Georgian. You were so good in creating an Azerbaijani image that it seemed to me that you were our actor." - It was a very nice compliment for me," he said.

Note that the role of Ali in the film Birthday was voiced by our late actor Shakhmar Alekberov.

67-year-old David Uplisashvil, which today operates as an actor at the Rustaveli Theater, said today he would agree in a heartbeat to shoot if he received such an invitation from Azerbaijan.
