19-year-old Azeri soldier dies of “heart failure”

A 19-year-old conscript from Azerbaijan’s Gadabay District has died of heart failure at a military unit close to the ceasefire line, the Ministry of Defense said.Orxan Aliyev “died in his sleep”, the ministry said, without providing further detail.Non-military deaths in Azerbaijan’s mostly conscription-based army prompted mass protests in Baku earlier this year.

President Ilham Aliyev replaced his long-serving defense minister, Safar Abiyev, following the protests in October.
