Socar says Turkey's share of Tanap pipeline may be increased
Turkey's share of the Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline (Tanap) may be increased from the current 20 per cent, Socar President Rovnaq Abdullayev told reporters today.
"The issue is being discussed at the moment," he said, adding that Turkish companies may get the shares Socar had earlier offered to Statoil and Total.
Socar has 80 percent of the project at the moment. Turkey's Botas and TPAO hold the remaining 20 percent.
The 2,000-kilometer Tanap pipeline is designed to deliver Azeri gas to Europe via Turkey. It is estimated to cost $7 billion to $10 billion.
