British forecasters have predicted sub-zero temperatures this weekend but there may be a way to step out and marvel at the clear skies while staying warm - or at least keeping your toes toasty.New high-tech socks promise to keep chilly feet cosy for hours thanks to battery-powered heat packs. The black and red numbers come in sizes 4-6 and are made from wool and acrylic. They feature a removable battery pack that heats the toe area to 39 degrees.Once you pop the battery pack into the pouch they take 5-10 minutes to reach maximum temperature.Whether you wear them while stepping out for a hike or ski or put them on when you get home after a day out in the cold, the socks claim to stay hot for up to five hours. They're available form prezzybox.com for £19.95 and require 1 x D size LR20 battery per sock, which aren't included.Temperatures expected to stay several degrees below the November average in the coming days. Those brave enough to wrap up warm and venture outside will be rewarded with 'crisp' weather on Saturday and Sunday, as chilly but dry conditions replace sleet, wind and rain.Met Office forecaster Nicky Maxey said: 'We've got a cold front coming down from the north bringing in chilly winds from the Arctic.'By this morning much of the country could see sleet and rain, with high ground getting a dusting of snow.'It will feel near freezing because of those cutting northerly winds, which could reach 30mph. From Thursday onwards we will see some crisp autumnal weather.'It will be cold, dry and bright, with daytime temperatures still below average, so people should wrap up warm.'It is looking like a perfect weekend for a stroll in the countryside, with patches of autumnal sunshine.'Temperatures are set to plummet and remain low for some time, forecasters say.Snow is likely for most of the country, coupled with biting gale force winds coming in from the north.Parts of Scotland will see night-time temperatures dip to -2C over the next couple of days and London is expected to stay cold with lows of just zero degrees forecast.(dailymail.co.uk)ANN.Az
