Apple's secret watch shops revealed

Apple is set to launch special stores for its Watch in department stores around the world.

Barricades have appeared overnight in front of the new Apple Watch Shop at Selfridges in London, Galeries Lafayette in Paris and Isetan in Tokyo.

The department store shop-in-shop concepts are a first for the firm - and will only sell its smartwatch.

'The experience of shopping for an Apple Watch is a deeply personal one,' said Paul Deneve, the former chief executive officer of Yves St Laurent who was hired as Apple's head of Special Projects.

'The department stores and specialty stores that we're working with are some of the best in the world at offering such experiences, so it was natural for us to see our product there.'

'Given the very focused distribution that we've pursued for this launch, every door that sells Apple Watch will provide an incredible and memorable experience for every customer that walks in.'

The stores at at Galeries Lafayette in Paris, Isetan in Tokyo and Selfridges in London will open their doors on April 10th to allow people to try the product, which goes on sale on April 24th.

Then, it will also be on sale at colette in Paris, Dover Street Market in London and Tokyo, Maxfield in Los Angeles and The Corner in Berlin.

Experts have already warned the Apple Watch is set to be in short supply when it is first released.

'It's expected that there will be a shortage of the Apple Watch at launch,' Said Apple Insider.

'But this person said the shortage is largely expected by Apple management, who knew the struggles the company might face in coming to market.'

The Apple Watch has come under fire from critics as a useless gadget, but Apple's Tim Cook has revealed he is confident the Apple Watch will become as much of a success as the firms other written-off products - the iPhone and the iPad.

He claimed the Apple Watch, which goes on sale in April, with prices starting at $349, has already become a part of his life.

He also claimed it will be 'the first smartwatch that matters'.
