Japan seeks to expand ties with Azerbaijan

Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has met Japan’s special representative for Central Asia and the Caucasus, Akira Muto.

Mammadyarov expressed satisfaction with the level of relations between the two countries. He said there were great opportunities for boosting cooperation in various fields. Mammadyarov said Azerbaijan is interested in cooperation with Japan not only in the energy sector but also in agriculture, high-tech and other fields.

Akira Muto said Japan is interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan in the areas of IT and agriculture.

On the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Muto said Japan supports the peaceful resolution of the conflict on the basis of UN Security Council resolutions.
