Amazing floating hotel

Amazing floating hotel
29.05.2020 08:28
This floating hotel with catamaran apartments will offer guests the perfect opportunity of an uninterrupted view of the nature around them.

The project is developed by Salt & Water design studio with the aim to promote tourism on inland waters and the plans recently won the Millennium Yacht Design Award, an international competition for yacht designers.

A central unit where guests will check in and be able to interact with others is connected to a set of floating catamaran pods, accessed by a portable walkway.

Designers believe the floating hotel would provide the perfect solution for tourism without any violation of natural harmony.
The floating hotel is formed of two different parts – a central floating construction and apartment catamaran units.

The central unit houses a reception, a restaurant, an event hall, offices for staff and a café.

Guests can then access pathways which are connected to the apartment catamarans.

Each apartment is an innovatively designed catamaran which can be easily separated from the dock and navigated, allowing guests to choose the perfect location for their vacation by themselves.

Catamarans consist of a reception, a galley, a bathroom, a hall with storage space and a sleeping area (above the reception). Guests can also relax at two separate outdoor locations– the flying bridge and the beach platform.

Each apartment can accommodate between two and four people, thanks to the ability to convert the salon into a double bedroom.

From the beach platform it is easy to access the water for swimming, diving, fishing and sun bathing.

The main idea is to allow users to enjoy their visit through navigation at a very slow speed and with an uninterrupted view of nature. For this reason the catamarans have an unusual shape with large windows in the front.

Benjamin Maltby, principal consultant at MatrixLloyd – the worldwide authority on superyacht purchase and construction - loved the concept.

He told MailOnline Travel: 'The inside/outside room became a staple of superyacht design in the mid-2000s, and these spaces normally work wonderfully. I'd want the whole hotel moored somewhere where the water underneath is moving: stagnant water encourages mosquitoes.

'I'd also want each apartment to be able to swing round so that it faced into the oncoming wind and wasn't buffeted by crosswinds all night.

'In summary, this is a stunning idea, but whether or not it will work will depend on where the hotel is located.'
