Bastian Schweinsteiger leaves, Bayern Munich finish bottom of the Telekom Cup

As Bayern Munich contemplate life without Manchester United-bound Bastian Schweinsteiger, the German champions took part in the Telekom Cup in Monchengladbach.
Pep Guardiola's side lost the first game 2-1 against Augsburg and lost 5-3 on penalties to hosts Borussia Monchengladbach, to finish rock-bottom.
As their talismanic midfielder hopped on a flight to Old Trafford, his soon-to-be former team-mates took to the field to face their Bundesliga rivals in the semi-final.
The Telekom Cup is different to what Guardiola's side would usually be used to, as the games are only one half of 45 minutes and they play two different teams on the same day.
Substitutions are unlimited like any other friendly and if the match is tied, the two teams decide the match with a penalty shoot-out.
Thiago gave Bayern the lead after just seven minutes following neat build-up play involving new signing Douglas Costa on the edge of the box.
Alexander Esswein then equalised after half an hour with a tidy finish past Sven Ulreich in the Bayern goal.
Thiago almost doubled his and Bayern's tally when his thumping effort struck the post.
But Jeong-Ho Hong then put Augsburg in front just a minute later when he tapped in after Ulreich had parried an initial effort.
That was enough to knock the Bundesliga champions out of the semi-finals, ensuring that they'd face Monchengladbach in the third place play-off.
The game against the hosts had very little in terms of action with David Alaba firing over when in a dangerous position.
That was as good as it got, with the clash going into penalties to decide who would finish last in the annual tournament.
The first six penalties were all confidently dispatched before Pierre Hojbjerg and Fabian Benko missed their attempts to seal Bayern's fate.
