If you're scared of insects, look away from these magnified images

These alien creatures look like the stuff of nightmares. But they are actually nothing more than ordinary insects – magnified to many times their real size.
Photographer Kutub Uddin took the amazing images with a standard camera, using extreme close-up lenses and filters to highlight the other-worldly colours.
They show the incredible structure of the insects’ eyes, minuscule hairs, and shield-like bodies with astounding detail.
In one of the pictures a damselfly ends up looking like a cartoon tiger. In another a ghost mantis is given the appearance of an evil, cloaked tyrant.
Mr Uddin, who lives in Bognor Regis and works as a wedding photographer, spends hours of his spare time with his camera in hand to capture the images.
He said: ‘A love of wildlife has always been in my blood.’
