Real Madrid 0-0 AC Milan (pens 10-9)

It would have been a proud moment for 16-year-old goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma to pull on the famous AC Milan jersey to take on Real Madrid in front of a packed stadium.
Unfortunately, though, it proved to be a tough evening for the youngster as he missed the all important penalty in Shanghai.
With David De Gea struggling to keep his form as he waits to see if he will leave Manchester United this summer or next, Real Madrid’s new goalkeeper Kiko Casilla was the hero as the Spaniards won the China International Champions Cup on penalties.
Casilla came on in the second half and saved bravely from Carlos Bacca to force the game into penalties. He then scored in the shoot-out and saved from his opposite number Donnarumma to hand Madrid the trophy.
Casilla is all set to be a number two this season behind either Keylor Navas, or De Gea if he signs, but on this form it will be difficult for Rafa Benitez to leave him out.
Benitez started with Sergio Ramos on the bench, Navas in goal and Gareth Bale once again behind Karim Benzema in attack in what was Madrid’s last game on their summer tour of Australia and Asia.
Ramos has been offered a new deal that will take him to 2020 at the Spanish club but his camp deny reports that he has already signed the £6.3m contract. In his place in centre-defence Pepe partnered Raphael Varane and the Frenchman was impressive in the first half blocking Luca Antonelli after his surging run into box.
Navas made an early save from M’bia Nyang before bravely blocking at the French striker’s feet as he ran at the heart of Real Madrid’s defence to keep the game goal-less at the break.
The conditions at the Shanghai Stadium were not conducive to good football. Players had water breaks in each half to combat the heat and humidity and the playing surface also left a lot to be desired. Ronaldo slipped as he shot from distance allowing Diego Lopez, the former Real Madrid keeper, to save the effort.
Bale then played a pass out to Danilo but when he crossed Benzema failed to control the ball and the danger was gone.
The two teams had 17 European Cups between them but both sides looked jaded in the first 45 minutes.
Real Madrid brought on Toni Kroos in the second half and he improved Real's football with Bale going close with a free-kick from the right-hand side of the penalty area. Ronaldo then headed an Isco corner straight at Diego Lopez after good work on the left from Isco.
On 70 minutes, Ronaldo and Bale made way as another wave of substitutions meant that both sides had changed their entire starting line-ups bar central midfielders Casemiro and Nigel De Jong.
Ramos had also entered the fray and he was caught in possession by Bacca leaving the former Sevilla forward clean through on goal. Casilla made a fine one-on-one save to send the game into spot-kicks.
It was Bacca who put his penalty wide in the shoot-out. With Marcelo, Casimero, James Rodriguez and Ramos all scoring for Real Madrid it looked as if they would win in the first phase of the shoot-out but Donnarumma saved from Kroos and sudden death was needed.
When all on-field players had taken their kicks and scored it was down to the goalkeepers to decide it and Casilla won the game first with a well-taken spot-kick and then with a comfortable save from his opposite number.
