Celtic fan support in Azerbaijan delights Ronny Deila

The second leg of the third qualifying round tie ended in a goalless draw which meant the Scottish champions went through on aggregate. They had registered a 1-0 win at Celtic Park last week in the first leg.

And manager Deila has expressed his gratitude to the travelling fans as well as the club’s Azerbaijani fan base, who cheered the Bhoys to their win.

Speaking to his club’s official website, Deila said: "I’d like to thank all our fans who supported us so brilliantly at the match last night. 

"I know there were a number of fans living and working in Azerbaijan and it was obviously a rare chance for these fans to see the team in action.

"I also know that many more made the very long trip to Baku, not an easy journey but our fans were there once again.”

The Norwegian has saluted the fans, whose passionate support he feels makes Celtic a "special club”, and also talked up the difference it makes for the players and the staff.

"It is magnificent wherever we go in the world to know we have such tremendous support and I can assure you that this makes a big difference to myself and the players.

"Knowing that we have our fans in the stadium giving us such passionate support is something which we are so grateful for, it is what makes Celtic such a special club”, Deila added.

Celtic, who are one of the seeded teams in the champions section of tomorrow’s draw for the playoff round, will face an unseeded opponent which will be one of five teams: Skenderbeu Korce, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Astana, Partizan Belgrade and Malmo.
